The Kyoto Electronics KEM automatic titrator AT-700 is a common analytical instrument designed based on the principle of potentiometry for volumetric analysis.
The principle of potentiometry is to select appropriate indicator and reference electrodes to form a working battery with the measured solution. With the addition of titrant, the concentration of the measured ion continuously changes due to chemical reactions, resulting in a change in the potential of the indicator electrode. Near the endpoint of titration, there is a sudden change in the concentration of the measured ion, causing a jump in electrode potential. Therefore, the endpoint of titration can be determined based on the jump in electrode potential.
